Mass Pro-Palestine Protests Sweep Across Europe

(MENAFN) On Saturday, tens of thousands of people across Europe took to the streets to show solidarity with Palestine, protesting Israel’s continued attacks on the Gaza Strip despite a ceasefire and urging European governments to halt arms sales to Israel.

In the UK, demonstrators gathered in London’s Russell Square before marching to Whitehall, home to the Prime Minister’s Office at 10 Downing Street and other key government buildings.

The national march was held to denounce what participants described as Israel’s ongoing genocide against the Palestinian people.

Protesters criticized Israel’s violations of the Gaza ceasefire and condemned the British government for continuing arms exports to the country. Carrying Palestinian flags and placards, marchers chanted slogans against Israel and the UK government, calling on authorities, public institutions, and companies to withdraw support for actions they say contravene international law.

British Members of Parliament Zarah Sultana and John McDonnell joined the demonstration, along with British-Palestinian doctor Ghassan Abu Sitta, who has provided medical assistance in Gaza.
